Hot towel treatments are usually made at spa and considered a real luxury because of their relaxing and refreshing effects on a skin (especially if pure linen towels are used). But there is no need to spend a fortune to have a luxurious hot towel treatment in the spa. You can indulge yourself with this at home! Spas usually use a specialized UV towel warmer, but we can just as easily use tap water to heat the towel. So, let’s begin.

  • Have a linen towel you intend to use handy.
  • Pour some tap water into a pot and heat it until it is very warm. Check the temperature on the inside of your wrist.

  • Add a few drops of your favorite facial oil into the water. Lavender, macadamia nut oil and olive oil are all good choices. If the oil is new to you (even its only a fresh bottle of the same oil you usually use), test it on a small patch of skin. Sensitivities and allergies are very common nowadays, so you should be sure the oil is safe.
  • Take your linen towel and fold it several times to make it thicker or use cotton face towel. Both linen and cotton towels retain heat perfectly and are less likely to irritate your skin compared to other fabrics. Soak it towel in the water, and then wring it out.
  • Place a towel over your face and relax with your head tilted back. You might want to recline in your bed or make yourself comfortable on a sofa.

  • When warmth of your linen towel starts to diminish, refresh the towel in the warm water. Sit and enjoy the treatment for about 15 minutes, then remove the towel and refresh your face with cool water.
  • Tap some of your favorite face cream to your skin.

The treatment can be repeated once per week to have a cleansed, softened skin.
