When buying towels, especially luxurious ones – like linen towels, for example, we expect them to last long – maintain their absorbency capabilities and texture, keep shape and color. Alas, not always this comes true. In order to increase the longevity of your bath towels, hand towels, bath sheets or tea towels, read and follow these simple instructions.

1. We all know that new bathroom towels – linen towels or cotton or bamboo or other – achieve their full absorbency and softness only after three to four washes. To shorten this process you can soak your new towels in water with a cup of ammonia to it, and leave them overnight. October 4, 2012 Posted by admin

What separates your home bathroom from a spa is the fact that at home we do everything ourselves. And usually the experience is not the same. Of course we do not have the qualities of the staff, luxurious cosmetics and relaxed feeling the spa provides but one thing we surely have of the same quality – warm and cozy bathroom towels. When it comes down to it, you can always invest in a good set of heated bathroom towel rails (or rack) and ensure your bathing experience is just as great and relaxing.

Heated rails will dry your bath towels in short time (linen bathroom linen dry in minutes!) and also ensure you have cozy warm towel after a shower or a bath. But apart from that, the heated rails keep the moisture level in the bathroom low thus protecting it from germ and mildew. (more…)

Beach Towels – for Real Comfort on the Beach

June 15, 2012 Posted by admin

For beach we usually use a bit larger towels than those at home. For its perfect water absorbing qualities linen towels are the ideal choice for luxurious beach towels. We expect beach towels to soak up water fast and then dry out quickly too and that also are the characteristics of linen fabric. All this and also light weight makes linen towels irreplaceable for quality beach time.

Because of large size and thinness, linen beach towels can serve lots of purposes. They are used for comfort and hygiene purposes, i.e. sit, lie, and stand on to avoid doing this directly on the ground. Large beach towel can be a make shift garment or a blanket, or put on as an extra layer of clothing during cooler days, or can be worn tied around the waist like a skirt or just under the armpits like a long dress, usually in warm environments or on the beach. Huckaback Towels & Linen Towels

April 19, 2012 Posted by admin

A term “huckaback towels” is probably familiar for all those looking for quality towels. As this blog is called Huckaback Towels and is dedicated to quality home textile, let me introduce to you this type of towels.

Huckaback is a special rough weave of cotton or linen fabric. It is most often used to produce cloth towels: bath towels, tea towels, hand towels, dish towels. Because of this special loose weave the surface of the fabric is uneven with lots of space for threads to widen when the moisture is absorbed. This quality makes a towel highly absorbent and also results in a micro-massaging effect of the towel. The huckaback weaving pattern comes from the ancient textile traditions of Germany and Scandinavia.

Although cotton huckaback towels can be found on the market, linen towels are those most often associated with the term. Linen bath towels, linen tea towels, linen dish towels – mostly all are huckaback. (more…)
